Create a Progressive gifts offer

Reward bigger orders with gifts that unlock as customers choose larger tiers, like free shipping and free products, using Progressive gifts.

What it is and when to use it

The Progressive gifts template rewards customers who buy more. Each bigger tier unlocks more gifts, such as free shipping or a free product, so customers can see what they get by going one step further.

Use it when you want bigger orders and have products that work well as gifts.

How it looks in your store

The template starts with tiers of 1, 2 and 3 units, with 10% off on the second tier and 20% off on the third. The 2-unit tier starts selected, with a badge.

Below the tiers, a gifts block shows what each tier unlocks: free shipping and a product gift from tier 2, and another product gift on tier 3. Locked gifts show a lock until the customer chooses the tier that unlocks them. When the customer adds the offer to the cart, the unlocked gifts go in for free.

Create the offer

  1. In your Shopify admin, open BOGOX and click Templates in the app menu.

  2. Choose Progressive gifts in the Templates list, pick your colors and click Use this template.

  3. In Products, choose where the offer appears under Show offer on.

  4. In Extras, under Increase order value, open Unlockable gifts. It’s already on.

  5. For Gift #2 and Gift #3, click Select a product and choose the gift products.

  6. Check the Preview and click Publish.

The offer can’t be saved while a product gift has no product. Choose one for each gift, or click Remove gift on the ones you don’t need.

Gift settings

  • Gift or Free shipping: the type of each gift. BOGOX automatically applies a 100% discount to gifts and to shipping.

  • Unlocks at: the tier that unlocks the gift, for example Bar #2 and higher or Bar #2 only.

  • Label, Label crossed out, Title and Locked title: the texts of each gift.

  • Gift quantity and Allow different variants: how many units of the gift the customer gets and whether they can pick different variants.

  • Exclude shipping rates above an amount: with free shipping, set a Maximum shipping rate so more expensive rates aren’t free.

  • Only for subscriptions: the gift only unlocks when the customer subscribes.

  • Layout (Vertical, Horizontal or Deal Bar), Hide gifts until it's unlocked, Show labels on locked gifts and Show product image for locked gifts change how the block looks. Click Add gift to add more.

Tip

Save your best gift for the top tier and put free shipping on tier 2: it gives customers an easy first reason to buy more. Gifts with a high perceived value and a low cost work best.
