Variants and swatches

Let customers pick a variant for each item, choose dropdown or button swatches, set colors and images, hide sold-out variants and preselect variants.

Let customers choose a variant for each item

You'll find the Variants settings in the Products step of the offer editor.

  • Let customers choose a variant for each item: in tiers with 2 or more items, each item gets its own picker, so a shopper buying 3 can choose 3 different colors. It's on for new offers. When it's off, the offer has no pickers of its own and the swatch settings are hidden.

  • Show variant picker on the 1-item tier: also shows a picker on the tier with a single item.

  • Hide the theme's variant picker: hides your theme's own picker so shoppers choose only in the offer. It works when the two options above are on.

In each tier you can also turn on Require variant choice. Customers then have to choose a variant for each item before they can add the offer to their cart.

Choose a swatch style

  1. Under Variant swatches, open Select a variant and pick an option, such as Color or Size.

  2. In Choose swatch style for “Color”, pick a style. The Dropdown group has Default (text only), Color (color dot and text), Image (your image and text) and Product image (variant photo and text). The Buttons group has Text buttons, Color swatches, Image swatches and Product image swatches.

  3. Under Customize style, choose a Shape: square, soft, rounded or circle.

  4. Turn on Show selected option name if you want the chosen value written next to the picker.

  5. Repeat for each option, check the preview and save your offer.

These settings apply to All products in the offer. To give one product its own styles, pick it in Select a product. To undo that, click Use All products settings. If an option you need isn't listed, click Load more options from your store.

Set colors and images

  • With a color style, use Edit color options to set a color for each value. BOGOX fills in common English color names for you, like Red, Navy or Burgundy. For any other name, pick the color yourself.

  • With Image or Image swatches, use Edit image options to upload an image for each value, up to 5 MB each.

  • Product image and Product image swatches use the photo of each variant in Shopify, so make sure your variants have images.

Offers you create from a template already show color options as a color dropdown.

Hide sold-out variants

Turn on Hide sold-out variants to remove variants that are out of stock from the offer's pickers, instead of showing them as unavailable.

Preselect variants for each tier

  1. Click Preselected variants. This button needs Let customers choose a variant for each item turned on.

  2. Select a tier.

  3. If needed, click Select product to choose the product you want to set up.

  4. For each item (#1, #2…), choose the values to preselect, or leave Default.

  5. Click Apply and save your offer.

The number of tiers you've set appears next to the button. If a preselected variant is out of stock, the default variant is used instead. In a tier with Require variant choice on, your choices are saved but not preselected.
